Middleton Cricket Club receives free lighting from LED Hut

Date published: 26 August 2016

Middleton Cricket Club has tied up a sponsorship deal with local lighting firm LED Hut.

LED Hut, on Finlan Road, Middleton, has provided new lighting for the club in its clubhouse, cellar and other outside areas.

Roger Whitworth, chairman of Middleton Cricket Club, said: “It’s absolutely brilliant what LED Hut have done for us. The difference it has made to the lighting in the function room is fantastic – it was like having fluorescent tubes in there before.

“There are three sets of lighting which can be switched on and off individually now. They have supplied the bulbs for us which will give us low energy lighting in the clubhouse now.”

On the financial saving, Mr Whitworth added: “They have saved us a lot of money, I think it worked out at around £3,000 worth of equipment altogether which they have donated to the club.

“All the money will be poured back into the coaching of the teams and will cover the teams’ sponsorship for next year. The money that has been saved will help to pay for winter netting, which is really helpful because our teams spend six weeks using them and they aren’t cheap.”

Chris Evans, Customer Acquistions manager at LED Hut, said: “We like to help out local companies so we are happy to be helping and collaborating with another local organisation.

Middleton Cricket club has three senior teams which play in the Pennine Cricket League and five lower age group junior teams. The Lancashire disabled cricket team also play at the venue on Towncroft Avenue, Middleton.
