Lancs Calls for Midd Youth

The great work being done at Middleton Cricket Club in promoting the youth got further recognition in the week. Three players were chosen to represent Lancashire Under 17’s East in a round robin tournament that was played in three of the most prestigious grounds in the County. The three players concerned were James Tierney, Addison Holland and Leighton Le Carpentier  their contributions ensured a win for the Lancashire Under 17’s. James Tierney like the other two is 16 years old and already featuring for the first team and is a powerful all rounder. A fast bowler and big hitter.

A Team Effort Brings Victory at Werneth

On Sunday 2nd July Middleton 3rd XI travelled to The Coppice, home of Werneth CC, possibly the last time a senior Middleton XI will play at this once great venue. With the 1st and 2nd teams both winning the previous day it now fell to the 3rd XI to look to complete a clean sweep for the weekend.

Burton Cup Semi Final- Saturday 8th July

This weekend sees the Second Eleven welcome Greenfield to Towncroft for the semi final of the Burton Cup on Saturday. Wickets are pitched at 1.30pm.

The visitors are 7th in the 2nd XI Premiership who have the dangerous all rounder Glyn Partington at their disposal.

We were advised this morning by the Micklehurst Hon. Secretary that they cannot field a team on Sunday against our 2XI and have conceded the points.

 

 
Under 19s Blast Lowerhouse away in T20 bash

With no game for the first eleven and the second team rained off, the only game to survive the weather was Middleton Under 19's. Taking the journey up the M66 to Burnley this would be a familiar route for Middleton teams from next year when they enter the Lancashire League for the first time. The opponents on Friday evening were Lowerhouse in a T20 fixture consisting of 20 overs.

Middleton C.C. currently have three senior teams competing in the Penine Cricket League, and five junior teams.

Senior matches take place on the majority of Saturday and Sundays.

The Junior sides play on various nights throughout the week, as well as the Under 13s playing on Sunday mornings.

We have a function room that is available for hire all year round. For more information click here.

50/50 Club
The Club hold a weekly draw. The cost is £5 per month, and the weekly prize is £50. Anybody interested should contact Peter Collinson.
