On Saturday the 1st XI returned to winning ways with a five point victory over Milnrow. There were some standout performances with both the bat and ball which helped Middleton gain maximum points from this encounter.

Back to back Defeats for the First Eleven
Tuesday, 12 May 2015

This weekend the 1st XI suffered consecutive defeats in the league at the Hands of Elton and Werneth.  Saturday’s defeat was perhaps the most disappointing as the firsts had beaten Elton in the first game of the season.

Tuesday, 05 May 2015

On Sunday Middleton 1st IX gained a vital 5 points against newly instated Heyside at Towncroft. Professional Ernest Kemm spearheaded the Moonrakers to victory with a five wicket haul, and 55 not out in a partnership worth 99 with Captain Grant Jones.

Ashton were the first visiting team to Towncroft this year and they delivered a heavy defeat to the 1stXI. With the sun beating down on a dry pitch, Middleton were were asked to bowl first and the visitors got off to a good start, reaching 50 for 1 after the first ten overs.

First Team Start as They Mean to Go On
Thursday, 23 April 2015

The 1st XI started their season away, to Elton C.C, one of two new clubs entering the league this season. On a typically chilly opening day of the season, Middleton elected to bat first on a wicket which looked well prepared, as did the rest of the ground. Skipper Grant stuck with openers Rhys Tierney and George Walker, however young Tierney struggled to settle on a slow early season deck and returned to the pavilion early.

Norden Prove too Strong for the Seconds
Tuesday, 21 April 2015

After winning promotion to the Premier Division, the Second Eleven faced a baptism of fire in facing an extremely strong Norden side.

Batting first, Middleton were bowled out for 152, and it could have been a lot worse having lost their first two wickets without scoring. Captain, Rob Bennett top scored with 30. The stand out bowler for Norden was Chris Hartley, who returned with figures of 6 for 33.

In reply, early wickets were needed for Middleton and Mo Sohail struck in the second over, bowling Dean Lord for a duck. The same bowler then took the wicket of Greg Tattersall with the score on 21, when he was caught by Mo Shahid.

Dan Buckley and Ste Wild then took the score to 88, until Buckley was well caught by Gareth Hughes for a well made 55.

And that was the last wicket to fall as Wild and Joe Humphreys took their side past the winning post.
