Middleton CC Poll
Who will be Middleton's top run scorer in the 2017 season

Crompton too Much for the Moonrakers PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 25 April 2016
The First Eleven made the trip to Glebe Street for their opening game in the new Pennine Cricket League.
The trip, however did not turn out the way Middleton had hoped, as a century from Crompton professional, Neil Hornbuckle, took the game away from the visitors.

Upon winning the toss, Crompton chose to bat first.

Mark Buckley and, captain for the day, Mike Pritchard opened the attack for Middleton. And it was Pritchard who struck early when he had Andrew Yates caught behind.

That brought Hornbuckle to the crease to join Josh Tolley, who was Crompton's paid man last year.

Together they compiled a partnership of 120 before Tolley was well caught by Rhys Tierney off the bowling of Mo Shahid.

Wickets fell at regular intervals, but with Hornbuckle at the crease, the scoreboard continued to tick over.

Crompton finished on 226 for 6 at the end of their overs. Hornbuckle ending on 119 not out.

Sub-professional, Martin Walters being the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 2 for 50.

Middleton's reply never got started as only Walters and Shahid reached double figures as they were all out for 73.
