Kemm Shows his Class PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 30 June 2015

A maximum ten point weekend for the 1st XI put them in Second place of the Lake Garage CLL Championship division.

On Saturday the moonrakers made short work of defeating visitors Oldham. Batting first, the hosts got off to a good start as George Walker made a good platform scoring 40 when he was given out caught behind. Soon after wards Ernest Kemm was given out lbw after helping to push the score on.

Grant Jones came in at four and began to battle hard against some good bowling from Oldham. Grant eventually top scored making 51 when he was out. The Middle order chipped in, however a late attack by Gareth Hughes for the ninth wicket helped Middleton finish on 207 off fifth overs and Hughes himself finished on a commendable 29 off 23 balls.

Middleton began their bowling innings knowing that early wickets would reduce the pressure on themselves. After the openers had been removed early the Oldham professional had to consolidate. However Mark Buckley had other ideas and managed to tempt Hassan to edge one which was firmly held onto by wicket keeper Peter Foden.

After seven overs from the Hollin Lane end Pritchard was replaced by Kemm who bowled well from the start and got his first wicket bowling Hussain. This was the start of Kemm’s five wicket haul in which batters seven to ten did not score a run as Kemm continued his rich vein of form, proving too much class for the Oldham players.

This was a comprehensive 116 run victory for the 1st XI as they took five points to help climb up the table.

On Sunday Heyside were one point above the Moonrakers going into the fixture. However, a half century from Tahir as well as 75 and six wickets from Ernest  Kemm ensured the Moonrakers finished the weekend with Maximal points.

This was a solid performance from the 1st XI with runs from many of the top and middle order. There was also a good bowling performance from Gareth Hughes who took four wickets and supported professional Kemm well.
