Unbeaten centuries from both Jones (105 n.o) and Kemm (128 n.o) helped the 1st XI ensure back to back victories on Saturday against Ashton.  Kemm was also the star of the show with the ball as he picked up 5 wickets which saw Middleton win by 8 wickets.

Despite the prolonged morning drizzle, play was only reduced to 48 overs per side. Middleton batted first and although losing Tahir early, managed to rebuild well with Walker and Kemm. After pushing the runs on steadily (and a short rain delay), Walker was bowled on 48 which left the score on 82 for 2 and brought Jones to the crease.

With Ashton being in recent years a tough wicket to bat on, both Kemm and Jones showed good determination and supported each other as they both passed the fifty mark. However, the pair continued to build on their scores and punish bad bowling. As the batting innings came to an end Kemm finished on 128 off 152 balls including seven 4s and three 6s, Whilst Jones finished on 105 off 77 with seven 4s and seven 6s in a partnership worth 233.

With 294 to defend, Middleton began their bowling innings with renewed confidence. The breakthrough came with just 14 on the board as Pritchard got the opener. Soon after wards there was a change at both ends with Gareth Hughes and Kemm replacing openers Pritchard and Buckley.

Together Hughes and Kemm attacked the Ashton middle order who did not respect the good bowling. Hughes got the precious wicket of sub professional Angelo Perrera as he was caught behind for 5, which seemed to take the wind out of the hosts sails.

Hughes finished with 2 wickets off his four overs, whilst Kemm picked up 5 for 27 off 10. There was also one wicket each for Tahir and Rutter which cemented a comprehensive five point victory, making it two wins in two for the 1st XI.
