Twenty20- Middleton vs. Milnrow PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 16 June 2015

Despite a late surge, the 1st XI was unable to end with a win in the final T20 group game against Milnrow, losing by four runs.  Chasing a modest target of 139 Middleton showed good spirit as professional Kemm scored 50 but were unable to end the campaign with a victory.

Middleton had started well striking in the first over and shortly afterwards removing Milnrow professional Price reducing the hosts to 21 for 2. However a destructive partnership between the Milnrow middle order pair of Dryden and Wilkinson put the visitors to a healthier score of 117 at the fall of the third wicket.

There was a confident start from both Walker and Kemm as they they reached fifty without loss. However, when Jones came to the crease he began to push the score on with kemm as he made a half century in 47 balls.

Whilst Middleton tried to keep up with rate Milnrow’s fielding was excellent and put pressure back on the home team as they began to fall below the rate. After some exciting cricket in the final few overs it came down to the last ball as the Moonrakers needed 5 to win. Unfortunately the young 16 year old Tom Rutter who had rose to the challenge with 18 to his name could only manage a single as Middleton lost by four runs.
