Perren and Schofield Show Their Class Again PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 09 September 2013
A 183-run partnership from Clinton Perren and Chris Schofield proved to be the thorn in the side of Middleton's First Eleven.

Perren's century, off 123 deliveries, was the mainstay of the Littleborough innings, but he was well supported by Schofield (86).

Things were looking rosy for Middleton, as they were on top with Littleborough teetering at 82 for 5.

But that was when the experienced pair came together and took the game away from Middleton. The partnership lasted 23 overs as the pair cut loose as Littleborough finished on 272 for 6.

In reply, Middleton opened with Scott Stanworth and George Walker, and they got off to a decent start as they put on 58 runs for the first wicket before Stanworth was caught by Joe Barnes off Gary Nash for 39.

Grant Edmeades came to the crease and continued the good work that Stanworth had started and hit a run-a-ball 44 until he was bowled by Schofield.

Walker followed his professional back to the pavilion without adding to the score when fell victim to a piece of smart glove work by Joe Roche.

Middleton lost two more wickets, those of Grant Jones and Alex Copeland, before the rain curtailed events and Middleton finished on 206 for 5.

But due to the league rules, this was not enough for victory and Littleborough claimed four points to Middleton's one point.
