The Stars Come Out To Shine For Charity Match PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 15 August 2009
Cancer ResearchThe crowds flocked to see the stars at Towncroft for a 20/20 match between a World XI and a C.L.L. Legends XI to help raise money for Cancer Research.
The World XI batted first and hit an imposing total of 251 off their 20 overs with David Wiese top scoring with 84 off 28 deliveries. He brough his 50 up after facing only 16 balls. He was supported by Phil Hayes (60) and Daryn Smit (51), both facing 27 deliveries.

Lee Wolstenholme bore the brunt of the run scoring being hit for 52 off his 4 overs, including five sixes, two of which hit the top of the trees at the Towncroft end.

In reply Luke Proctor top scored for the C.L.L. Legends with 65 off 33 as the World XI's bowling attack proved too strong.

A late cameo by event organiser, Barry Hamilton (21 not out), gave the crowd something to cheer about as they hit 202 off their 20 overs.
